Indoor track and field take fourth

The Union Men and Women’s Indoor Track and Field teams both took home fourth place finishes in the Liberty League Championships on Saturday at Rochester Insitute of Technology.

Starting with the men, the 4,000-meter distance medley relay team of Timothy Woods ’18, Justin Zorn ’17, Jesse Coull ’16 and Adam Forti ’17, finished third in their event, with a time of 10:53.53.

The team of Ricco Pierre ’16, Rodney Mosley, Alex Dolcimascolo ’17 and Ethan Strauss ’18 registered a fourth place finish in the 800-meter relay, and they crossed the finish line at 1:36.90.

Also bringing in a fourth-place finish was the 1,600-meter relay squad of Arthur Schutzberg ’17, Ryan Saeger ’16, Nick Murdock ’18 and Ben Megathlin ’17, and they finished their race at 3:47.01.

Rounding out the scoring for the Dutchmen runners was Ricco Pierre in the 60-meter dash, who finished in fifth place, with a time of 7.31.

On the women’s side, Noemie Bechu ’17 led the way for the Dutchwomen, as she was responsible for 24 of Union’s 47 points on the day.

Bechu took home a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash, at 58.15, and also had a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 27.07.

Madeline Frieze ’15 added eight points for the Dutchwomen, with strong performances in the 200-meter and 60-meter dashes. Frieze placed third in the 200-meter, with a time of 27.80, and fifth in the 60-meter, with a time of 8.40.

Both the men’s and women’s teams will return to RIT in two weeks to take part in the New York State Championships, from Feb. 27-28 at 3 p.m.
