Indoor track and field finishes strong

The Union Women’s Indoor Track and Field team traveled to Hamilton College last weekend for the Hamilton College Continental Invitational.

Highlighting the event for the Dutchwomen was their 4×200 relay team, comprised of Leigh Barnhill ’18, Natalia Ciesielska ’17, Noemie Bechu ’17 and Madeline Frieze ’15. The group took home the top spot in the event, with a time of 1:50.07.

Fresh off of her Liberty League honor roll nomination, Bechu also finished second in the 400- and 200-meter dashes.

Hannah Najar ’15 raced in the 800-meter dash and Rebekah Williams ’15 competed in the 3,000-meter run.

Both runners placed fifth in their respective events.

Leading the way for Union in the field events was sophomore Natalia Ciesielska. She placed third in the pole vault, at 2.45 meters.

The Dutchwomen’s indoor track and field team will be back in action this Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Ithaca Invitational, which begins at 7 a.m. at Ithaca College.
