Wicker Wellness Center responds to Rx concerns

In response to the opinions piece related to Wicker’s prescription distribution policy (Thursday, Oct. 24), I wanted to correct one critical error: When a student needs medication urgently, we provide it no matter when they come to the center.

In regards to the delivery hours, the current hours were based on usage patterns. After hearing from students, we are talking about changing the first pick up time from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.  to 1 – 2 p.m., if the common lunch hour is more convenient for students.

We have also recently changed our procedures in the event a student cannot travel to the center to pick up their medication.

A friend may pick up the medication if he or she provides identification and signs for it. The exception to this is for a controlled substance (i.e. Adderall).

That can only be picked up by the student it was prescribed for.

We work very hard to provide high quality health services and welcome feedback on our practices so that we can continue to ensure that students get the best possible care.
