Union offers many unique and fun activities on campus. From free concerts to Minerva events, there is never a reason to be bored. Wellness classes and intramural sports are some of the many things you can do on campus as well. These activities are great ways to motivate students to stay in shape (both mentally and physically) and explore the opportunities Union offers.
Wellness classes are offered at Alumni Gym on a first-come-first-serve basis while signing up. They are offered for nine out of the 10 weeks in the term and are relatively inexpensive. Also, the classes vary every term.
For this fall, Union is offering: 11 different sessions of Spinning, Body Circuit and Conditioning, Zumba, Kickboxing, Core & More, several yoga classes that vary in level of difficulty and a Swimming for Beginners class. Registration for classes is September 11-17, but if spots are still available people can sign up after the deadline.
Similarly, intramural sports are a huge part of the athletic activities Union offers. Intramural teams include: men and women flag football teams; co-rec kickball; half-field men’s, women’s and co-rec soccer; men’s, women’s and co-rec 3 v. 3 basketball; men’s and women’s street hockey; Ultimate Frisbee and men’s, women’s and mixed doubles tennis.
Intramural teams for winter and spring term for the 2013-2014 year can be found on Union’s Athletics’ page, along with the registration dates for each term.
Wellness classes and intramural teams are great ways to stay fit, have fun and meet new people. Most importantly, they are a great way to de-stress; there sure is nothing better than letting it all out on a punching bag! Even if you’ve missed the registration for fall term, make sure to mark future registration dates on your calendar!
