Last week, the Student Athlete Advisory Committee held the annual Family Feud Tournament in support of Kristen’s Kause.
This year, the tournament raised $362 for Kristen, and featured Union Men’s and Women’s Teams, along with faculty teams from the library, Alumni Relations, Health Services, Financial Services, the Becker Career Center and athletic trainers.
Union’s Assistant Athletic Director Eric McDowell is the lead organizer of the event each year. His hosting skills competed with the late Richard Dawson, who hosted the television version for many years.
Last year’s champion, the women’s basketball team, was unable to retain their title, and the women’s golf team captured this year’s crown.
McDowell was excited about the success of the tournament. He said, “Kristen presented the trophy and we thank all the teams and other campus departments that played in this year’s tourney.”
Kristen’s Kause was created in support of Kristen Shinebarger, who is battling Ewing’s Sarcoma for the second time.
The funds raised through events like Family Feud are going towards the purchase of a prosthetic leg for Kristen.
Nathaniel Hawthorne ‘15 of the men’s crew team said, “Although we were knocked out of the playoffs by women’s golf, I still had a blast playing in the tournament and I am even happier that we could contribute to Kristen’s Kause.”
