One of the most popular ice cream joints near Union is Jumpin’ Jack’s in Scotia. It was originally built as an ice cream shop called Twin Freez in 1952 by Jack Brennan. Several years later, Brennan decided to expand his business and add the Charcoal Pit in 1957 to start serving food. The Charcoal Pit was replaced by a larger building in 1964, which still exists today, under the current ownership of Mark Lansing.
Jumpin Jack’s Twin Freeze is the perfect place to order your favorite slushy, milkshake, frozen yogurt or ice cream and eat it outside on a nice table overlooking the Mohawk River. Its ice cream flavors include the standard vanilla and chocolate, but also flavors such as orange-pineapple, lemon and pistachio.
Twin Freeze’s slushy flavors include lemon-lime, watermelon, grape, strawberry, cherry and blue-raspberry.
Also, Twin Freeze’s milkshake flavors come in vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, coffee, blueberry, pistachio, banana, black-raspberry, cherry and orange-pineapple.
Twin Freeze additionally features specialty deserts ice cream, frozen yogurt and dole-whip sundaes and banana splits.
Twin Freeze also offers popcorn, caramel popcorn, cotton candy and soft pretzels.
