Some of these fashionable folk from the first weekend of Coachella—and my personal favorites—include actresses Kate Bosworth and Diane Kruger as well as singer-songwriter Solange Knowles. These three women rocked equally fashionable ensembles reflective of their trademark styles.
Kate Bosworth is a Coachella maven. Fashionistas everywhere took notice of her impeccable festival style two years ago when she attended Coachella in 2011. She donned an American flag muscle T-shirt and cream cutoffs, looking effortless and chic. However, this year she brought her sartorial A-game. On day one, she sported a white eyelet scalloped ensemble from Topshop, which she paired with beige ankle boots reminiscent of the Beatles’ style.
Not surprisingly, Bosworth’s next business endeavor as a fashionista is a collaboration with Topshop to create a festival collection that mirrors trends typically worn at these events.
“The design team and I thought a lot about the festival season, and particularly with this collection, a lot of it was about the California girl. Obviously, the perfect place to wear it was Coachella,” Bosworth explains.
Bosworth wore some pieces from her line with Topshop on day two, which included a black lace knee-length dress paired with a shearling vest. Her ability to encapsulate bohemian festival fashion makes her the ideal candidate for this line, which will undoubtedly make appearances at Bonnaroo and Osheaga.
Diane Kruger has always been on the top of best-dressed lists. Her ability to rock the red carpet is undeniable, but her recent spotting at Coachella illustrates her command of festival chic ensembles as well. On day one, she donned an H&M Rolling Stones muscle t-shirt with tribal shorts, fringe boots and a floppy hat, topping it all off with red lipstick. She looked rocker chic and, most importantly, comfortable. On day three, she continued with the rocker vibe in a shearling jean jacket, black T-shirt tucked into a blush mini skirt, studded biker boots and a cheetah messenger bag. Kruger’s keen ability to mix and match textures, colors and accessories illustrates her willingness to have fun with fashion.
Much like Bosworth and Kruger, Solange Knowles is known for not only her impeccable fashion sense, but also her outstanding voice. Knowles kept her ensembles bright, bold and fitted. On day one, she looked perfectly springy in an Alice and Olivia dress that looked vintage with bold photoreal yellow lemons. She paired this garment with mod wedge heels, perfectly tying the simple and elegant ensemble together. On day two, she followed up her lemon dress with yet another chic look, featuring a draped ivory top paired with a hot pink J. Crew floral skirt that hit just below her knees. She later wore this outfit to perform alongside the XX, playing “Locked in Closets” off her new EP, True. It is clear from her sartorial choices and ability to move Coachella to its feet during her set that Knowles took the festival by storm.
