The Department of Theatre and Dance will be presenting “Orestes: An Antic Tragedy,” trans adapted by Anne Washburn from the Greek play by Euripides.

Union is the first college to produce a musical version of Orestes.

Orestes is directed by Professor William Finlay, and it will be performed from October 31-November 3 at 7:30 P.M, and November 4 at 2:00 P.M at the Yulman Theatre.

The cast includes Lizzie Cohen ’13, Rose Dumbrigue ’16, Meredith Fierro ’13, Joe Kiernan ’13, Rachel Magan ’14, Lizzie Magas ’15, Lauren Resnikoff ’15, Jasmine Roth ’14, Ryan Semerad ’13, Sarang Sharma ’15, Alexandra Weisse ’13 and Yuqiao Yuan ’15, with Robyn Belt ’14 as Electra and Dan Pallies ’15 as Orestes.

Cohen remarked that the play is an ‘interesting take on a Greek tragedy, with some singing and a laugh or two, absolutely worth seeing!’

Belt also noted that Orestes is ‘bloody, sexy, and fun. An interesting story with beautiful language…and it has a lot of visual appeal too!’

Likewise, Semerad encouraged, ‘if you are into theater, you need to see this show. There’s only three performances left and the crowds keep getting bigger– I think we’re doing something right.’

Box office hours are Monday-Friday, 12:30-1:30 P.M. and reservations can be made at 518-388-6545.
