It isn’t unusual that we, as students, only want what is best for our future, good grades possibly being that point of focus. But what students aren’t aware of is that experience—working in the “real world”—is what truly provides for an illustrious future. And, with summer rapidly approaching, our very own peers have secured those very experiences to not only provide polished bullets on their résumé, but to gain the knowledge and understanding of those experiences for the future.
How though, one may ask, did our peers secure such opportunities—interning with employers who provide outstanding and valuable experiences.
With the assistance from the staff at Becker Career Center, these opportunities are likely to become a prominent reality as they persistently work with and for you to secure those very opportunities you are on a journey to find.
It is easy, come the summer season, to sit by the pool, soak in the sun and catch up on your favorite TV shows, but what many do not realize is that these opportunities are typically secured in the fall term, so you need to be ready and willing to hit the ground running come September.
In other words, you need to do your homework over the summer! And yes, even the staff at Becker Career Center will be willing to help you during those hot and humid months. Simply call the office or email a career counselor directly, or stop by anytime from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
As we are enjoying those summer months in the sun, the dedicated staff at Becker Career Center are here on campus reaching out to employers and alumni to find those opportunities for us.
Those “real world” experiences mentioned before are not going to fall into your lap come September. They require you, the student, to research your interests and actively reach out to the career center staff.
