Fifty students will share their dynamic talent at the ever-popular Steinmetz Dance Performance on Friday, May 11, from 4:00-5:00 pm at the Nott Memorial.
Among the many fabulous dance pieces you will experience during this show, there will be a sneak preview of the Dance Department’s Spring Dance Concert, “Paris Danse.” This year’s spectacle will reveal the evolving Parisian lifestyle of the 1880’s through the 1920’s.
The Steinmetz performance will also include new works by faculty members Miryam Moutillet, Marcus Rogers, and Amber Woerner. Student performers Anna Finlay ’12, Krystle Gallo ’12, Jacob LaRocca ’12, and Danielle Kreig ’12 will amaze you with their talent in individual dance projects. Performances by the Union College Dance Team and Ballroom Club will also be highlighted at this event. In addition, you will hear live music by guest artists Andy Iorio on piano and Sylvain Payot on accordion.
Along with this, our own talented Union singers, Connor Barrett ’14, Alex Infante ’12, Emily Lnenicka ’12, and Sonika Raj ’13 will perform during the show.
The 2012 Edward Villella Fellowship, which enables a selection of exceptional students in dance to expand their studies beyond campus, will be announced at the end of this year’s show. President Ainlay will also surprise the audience with exciting news.
“Paris Danse” will take place May 23-26th at the Yulman Theatre. Shows will be at 7:30pm with a matinee on Saturday May 26th. Tickets will go on sale starting Wednesday, May 9th and can be reserved by calling 388-6545, or purchased at the box office Monday through Friday from 12:30-1:30pm. Tickets are $7 with a Union ID and $10 for the general public. Dance connoisseurs and casual viewers alike will not want to miss this.
