Bagru Textiles gave Union students the exclusive first preview of their spring 2012 line.
Jeremy Fritzhand ‘09, a 2010 Minerva Fellow, returned to Union to share his experiences in India, and to launch the Bagru Textiles website, which will open today.
Bagru Textiles features hand block printed textiles directly from artisans in Bagru, India.
The launch of the website will be the final step in bridging the gap between the artisans and their consumers.
The Minerva Fellowship Fritzhand received was a “wild card,” in which he proposed his own idea to go to India and formulated a business plan for the 10 month fellowship.
He decided to return and worked to finalize the business plan and move forward to launch the website.
The website, www.bagrutextiles.com, will also feature the Spring 2012 line, as well as showcase the artisans that make their products.
After the website is launched, consumers around the globe will be able to directly purchase block prints from their source.
