The London Theater Mini -Term is an intensive three-week experience in visiting, viewing and critiquing current theater productions in London, with fourteen students in attendance this year.
They developed a visceral response to theater and dance in performance while gaining an understanding of the nature and function of performance as an art form and a profession. They honed their critical viewpoints through written reviews of productions.
In addition to theater-going activities, we took a walking historical tour of London’s theater district, experienced a backstage tour at the National Theater, and took part in a workshop at Shakespeare’s Globe Theater.
We also made the most of our London time with visits to numerous sites, including the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, The Houses of Parliament, and Buckingham Palace.
We walked our feet off at London’s street markets, parks, museums, shopping districts, and historical trails in the City of London, Westminster and London’s East End, discovering some of the hidden treasures of London along the way.
We visited holiday fairs and enjoyed lunch together at “Pub Talks,” and students took advantage of a free long weekend for European travel or more site visiting in England.
