In Memoriam: Charles Lothridge

By Miryam Moutillet

Regretfully, the Theatre and Dance Department has learned that Mr. Charles Lothridge passed away this past November.

Mr. Lothridge was the founder of the Edward Villella Fellowship that annually gives the opportunity to students studying dance to expand their college experience by pursuing studies, internships, or projects outside of the Union College Dance Program.

The fellowship was created in honor of New York City Ballet principal dancer Edward Villella and founder of the Miami City Ballet in Florida.

The fellowship has been prized for its exceptional learning opportunities in the art of dance and is awarded each spring during the Steinmetz Dance Performance in the Nott Memorial.

Mr. Lothridge was a Union College alumnus from the Class of 1944.

The Theatre and Dance Department and Union College community sends our deepest sympathy to his family and life long partner Mr. James A. McGirr.
