With the passing of Annie Chung over holiday break, Dining Services and all of the Union campus community lost a vivacious and hard-working staff member who always seemed to make people around her smile.
After a two-year long battle with cancer, Chung, who worked at Dutch Hollow for the past six years, peacefully passed away on Dec. 14, 2011.
At Union, Chung first started working on the check-out line at Dutch Hollow and in 2008 was promoted to work behind the scenes preparing salads for the salad bar along with specialty platters.
Jonelle Bayer, the Retail Manager for Dutch Hollow, Starbucks, Chets and O3 explains, “Annie’s catered platters were beautiful. She always did amazing work, even during her sickness.”
Bayer stated that Chung worked all the way through the ninth week of fall term, devoted to her job with an everlasting smile on her face through her final days of work. “She was working everyday last term and going to treatment after work, every single day,” she said. Chung’s legacy at Union will be her bright spirit, dedication to her work and her consideration for others. Chung is survived by her husband, two daughters, extended family and everyone in the Union community whom she influenced. She was 46 years old.
