As always, a new school year brings new trends and there is no season like fall to get the fashion ball rolling. This time of year is all about back-to-school basics with jewel tones designed to spice up our clothing collections.
Typically, fall fashion is filled with neutral and other moody colors, but as we embrace the changing of seasons and the beginning of another year at Union, we are channeling a brighter color scheme to give our wardrobes the pop they need.
This is not to say that taupe isn’t this season’s go-to shade for an understated look, but we are giving our palettes a much needed fashion face-lift. Along with taupe, hues that should be the foundation of every girl’s closet this season include silver, mustard, teal, and plum.
With these shades in mind,, there are a number of new styles on everyone’s fashion radar. With trends like caplets, ponchos, statement collar necklaces, and faux-fur vests, it’s hard not to have fun.
As you shop, keep an eye out for chic yet comfortable options that are great for class or a club meeting. If you want to throw something together quickly while retaining your sense of style, opt for a patterned tie-neck blouse tucked into jeans with a woven brown belt. Your outfit will not only make a statement, but also make you feel more put together and ready for a full day of school.
Additionally, it is important to find the perfect accessories to compliment your day-to-day ensembles. This season, ladylike carry-all totes and not-so-basic backpacks with intricate patterns are in. Both are ideal for lugging your books and other necessities around campus, and bags that are cute and functional can not only outlive one season but also allow you to show off your fashion sense to your fellow classmates.
Also, don’t forget to have a cross body or messenger bag around as well; they are roomy and perfect for going out with friends.
Most importantly, remember that fall fashion is always about staying warm while keeping yourself chic as can be.
