The Union College Department of Visual Arts is pleased to announce Elemental, the senior exhibition of sculpture by Amanda Wald, recipient of the College’s 2011 Charles Alexander Richmond Prize in Fine Arts.
Elemental is a series of steel and plaster sculptures exploring ways in which ideas about form change and progress through the working process. Each piece is complete in itself, but installed together they ring a series of changes on essential forms, interact with the exhibition space, and comprise a meditation on the relation of parts to the whole.
These sculptures represent the culmination of studio methods and ideas Amanda Wald has explored in her four years at Union. Wald has been working on the show for the past year and is excited to finally display it to the public.
The exhibition runs from Monday June 6, 2011 through Saturday June 11, 2011 in the Burns Arts Atrium Gallery of the Visual Arts Building at Union College. For more information contact Linda Goodman at (518) 388-6714. The gallery is open to the public from 9 am – 6 pm Monday through Friday.
