At the Steinmetz Dance Performance, we had the honor of awarding the Edward Villella Fellowship in Dance. This prestigious award has been given to Dance minor Anna Finlay ’12.
Anna was chosen for this scholarship due to her outstanding dedication to dance at Union. Through the years, she has challenged herself by excelling in various dance classes, workshops, and our annual Winter Dance Concerts and Steinmetz Shows.
This summer, Anna will be pursuing an internship with the National Dance Institute (NDI) in New York City. The NDI was founded by Jacques d’Amboise, a former principal dancer with New York City Ballet and is a non-profit organization that transforms the lives of more than 2 million public school children through award-winning arts and learning programs.
As an intern at NDI, Anna will be working with underprivileged children on how to dance and hopefully enrich their lives. Looking forward to this internship, Anna mentions, “I believe that getting children more involved in the arts is very important, and this would be my way of contributing to that belief.”
Congratulations to Anna on winning this distinguished award.
