It was a productive week for the Dutchmen lacrosse team, winning two games to give them a winning streak of three and a 6-2 record overall.
Last Wednesday, Union recorded their first win of the week, defeating Hamilton College 12-7.
Junior attack Ted McKenna and freshman attack Nate Greenberg had big games for the Dutchmen as each tallied three goals in the game, and junior goaltender Sean Aaron had 11 saves and eight ground balls.
The game started out fairly even for Hamilton and Union, until Hamilton started to pull away near the end of the half with a 6-3 lead. Unfortunately for Hamilton, Union was able to get on the board one more time before the end of the half, scoring with a second left to play.
The Dutchmen took that momentum into the second half scoring seven unanswered goals after the two teams traded goals to start the half.On Saturday Union went up against St. Lawrence and beat them 10-6.
McKenna and sophomore midfielder Joe Cordrey stepped up for the Dutchmen as McKenna scored two goals and an assist, and Codrey added three goals. Aaron made nine saves to lead Union to the win.
This game wasn’t quite as dramatic, as the Dutchmen were able to build a 7-1 lead in the first half. Union would keep the six goal lead and would improve it to seven going into the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter is where St. Lawrence tried to make their comeback. They scored three unanswered goals to bring the score to 10-6, but their comeback came up short as the game ended with the same score.
The Dutchmen will next play at Skidmore on Saturday at 5 p.m. before returning home to play SUNY Cobleskill at 5 p.m. on Monday.
