The Union College Men’s Rugby Club closed out their season this past weekend in a heartbreaking manner, as they ended up on the losing end of a 49-0 rout by Hamilton College.
The brotherhood is on display on the rugby pitch and beyond. On the pitch, there is no bad-mouthing, anger or frustration towards teammates, and only constructive criticism and helpfulness. Off the pitch, rugby players can be seen tutoring each other in the classroom, eating together in the dining halls, or just warmly greeting each other as they pass each other.
But for all the boisterous times the team has, they always keep in mind that they are “gentleman playing a hooligan’s game,” as said by prop Will Harris ‘13. “We represent Union College at other schools,” added Sedlak. “We are a group of dedicated and hardworking men, and it really says something about Union and who we all are.”
The team is looking forward to its off-season workouts, and the upcoming spring tournament season. More information could be found about the teams recent season on www.nysrugby.org.
