In truly bittersweet fashion, the women’s lacrosse team celebrated its four seniors in their last games as Dutchwomen on April 29. The team’s season came to end as Liberty League opponent University of Rochester handed the Dutchwomen a loss that ended their chances at involvement in postseason play. In a year riddled with difficult competition, the team finished their season with a cumulative record of 5-9 and a conference record of 4-5. The Dutchwomen’s season-ending matchup again the Yellowjackets was decided with five minutes left to play as Rochester, while a man down, netted its seventh goal of the day and hung on to a slim lead from there, eventually coming out victorious by a score of 7-6. Union led 3-2 into halftime, but the Yellowjackets overcame this deficit with an offensive blast in the second half. Union goals came from Cailin Pandolfi ’18, Mallory Toolan ’20, Jackie Hagopoan ’17 and Natalie Sullivan ’17. Goalie Jen Hughes ’17 made ten saves on 17 shots. At the game, the Dutchwomen honored their four graduating seniors, Hagopian, Sullivan, Hughes and Katie Quinlan ’17. In addition, three Dutchwomen, Celia Condrick ’18, a mathematics major, Hughes, an economics major and Hallie Stone ’17, an English and psychology double major, were all named to the Liberty League All-Academic Team.championship game.
