Borg ’19, Lyons ’17 lead women’s basketball

The girls recently dominated Vassar and Bard, winning by scores of 56-51 and 52-28, respectively. Then, they followed this two-game winning streak with a loss against RIT on Feb. 10, which was played at Union. They lost the game with a close final score of 70-63.

Last weekend, Union played at home against crosstown rivals RPI and Skidmore. They pulled out a big win against RPI, but then lost to Skidmore. Standouts on Union’s team during the matchup against RPI included Sophie Borg ’19 who scored 17 points, Erin Lyons ’17 who had a total of 14 points and Jenni Barra ’18 who totaled 14 points, including three field goals. Nicole Conley ’19 had nine points during the game with a total of four field goals.

Against Skidmore, the Dutchwomen put forward a strong effort, but fell short. The team led after the first half by a score of 29-10, but lost the lead as the game progressed.0

Union standouts during the game included Borg with 14 points, Lyons with seven points and Conley with six points.

The Dutchwomen have two games left in their regular season against RIT and William Smith this weekend. So far this season, leading scorers have been recurring forces Lyons, Conley and Borg, with totals of 218, 213 and 190 points, respectively.

Lyons leads the team with 82 field goals, while Conley leads the team with 39 three-point field goals and Borg leads the team in free throws with 44 made so far this season.
