Men’s, women’s swimming and diving sweep Hamilton

A huge win for the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams occured on Saturday when both teams triumphed over Hamilton.

The Dutchmen showed an excellent performance by beating the Continentals 166-132 and winning 10 events.

The team swept the 100-yard breaststroke with John Enquist ’17, Zibin Han ’19 and Luis Angel ’20 going 1-2-3. Enquist had a spectacular meet; not only did he win that race, he also won the 500-yard freestyle, 400-yard individual medley and, with help from Joseph Perks ’20, Andrew Wojtowicz ’19 and Jack Wassik ’19, the 200-yard medley relay. Enquist earned Liberty League Swimmer of the Week and ECAC North Swimmer of the Week honors for his stellar performances. In addition, the divers had a great meet, with Matt Mintz ’18 winning 3-meter event and Sam Hoyt ’18 taking the 1-meter event.

The Dutchwomen had a similarly impressive performance, winning 11 of the meet’s events, culminating with a final score of 162-136. A sweep in the 50-yard freestyle by Christy Brown ’17, Alexis Wojtowicz ’17 and Heather Wright ’18, along with wins in the 200-yard backstroke, 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke events by Christina Belforti ’17 brought the Dutchwomen their third straight win over the Continentals.

This victory improved the Dutchwomen’s record to 2-4 which they hope to make 3-4 in their meet next week and improve through the rest of the season.

Both the Dutchmen and Dutchwomen will be swimming this Saturday afternoon as they host a strong team from Ithaca.
