Class of ’94 Union alumnus takes oath as local police chief

Police Chief Eric Clifford, Union class of ’94. left, takes the oath of office from Mayor Gary McCarthy, right, during a ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, at Proctors Theatre in Schenectady. The police chief’s badge was passed along a line of Eric Clifford’s family members, including his parents, wife and older brother Sean, a Schenectady policeman. It ended with the new chief’s two sons, who pinned the badge on Clifford in a ceremony on Tuesday. The newly minted chief said he wanted his relatives to share in the career milestone because of the influence they played in helping him achieve it.
