Game-Based Movies

Okay, so last week I complained about the Hitman movie. So you're probably wondering, "Okay, so what does a good video game-based movie look like?" Here's a few:
Resident Evil: Five stars. Look, it wasn't made with the intention of winning an Academy Award. It was made to be entertaining, just like the game. And that it was.
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider: Four stars. I thought the sequel was kind of dry, but the original was pretty good. Angelina Jolie did a good job of bringing the sexy Lara Croft to life. On the other hand, there were plenty of old clichés.
Mortal Kombat: Three and a half stars. It's kind of a cult classic that was never a box-office hit, just like Robocop. I'll admit I haven't viewed in its entirety, but it seems to have some pretty solid martial arts and fatalities. The downside was that I think they tried to make some fantasy elements more realistic.
Street Fighter Alpha: Four stars. Unlike the live-action Street Fighter movies, this animated movie actually has some tie-in with the video game, and it's not as repetitive as the Street Fighter II animated series.
