Rawson Thurber, '97, may be best known to Union students for writing and directing the summer blockbuster hit, Dodgeball.
Thurber's new movie, The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, will premiere at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. The movie, based on Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Chabon's novel of the same name, "chronicles the defining summer of a recent college graduate who crosses his gangster father and explores love, sexuality, and the enigmas surrounding his life and his city," according to imdb.com. Sienna Miller, Mena Suvari and Nick Nolte are among the noted stars in the film.
Mysteries of Pittsburgh is one of only 16 films accepted into the Sundance Film Festival Dramatic Competition, which is held annually in Park City, Utah. The World Premiere of the film will be held at the festival, which will take place from January 17-27 this year.
