Men's Soccer tops Southern Vermont, ties Skidmore

The Dutchmen dropped one spot in the NSCAA/Adidas Division III from 6th to 7th in the nation. They are currently ranked 1st in the region and are in second place in the Liberty League with a record of 3-1-0. Their overall record coming into this week was 9-2-0.
On Wednesday, the Dutchmen played against a weak Southern Vermont team who had a record of 0-11-0 before playing the Dutchmen. Most of the starters were on the bench for the Dutchmen, with Harris Fendel and Ryan Green sharing the net in place of starter Rob Kramer. The Dutchmen routed Southern Vermont with a 12-0 offensive explosion.
John Manna scored the first two goals of the contest in the 6th and 7th minute of the contest. In the 6th minute, Manna collected a pass from Damond Heath and sent it flying past the Southern Vermont goalkeeper. Manna collected his first career goal as a Dutchmen. Almost a minute later, Manna scored again when his first touch found the back of the net. Manna received the ball from Heath who sent a cross over the central defenders.
Chris Choido got his first tally of the game when he received a perfectly lead pass by Peter Kennedy in the 26th minute. A minute later, Kyle Riter carried the ball through the Southern Vermont defenders and scored an unassisted goal, giving the Dutchmen a 4-0 advantage. In the 41st minute, Choido recorded his second goal of the match. Keita Minakawa sent a cross through the middle of the box to Choido, who fired the ball into the back of the net.
In the second half Paul Angelo got involved in the offense when the initial shot from Nicky Hoberman came directly to Angelo who sent the ball into the back of the net for a 6-0 advantage. Jack Scott scored in the 59th minute when Brendan Steiner chipped the ball over the Southern Vermont defense. This was Scott's first career point as a Dutchmen. Peter Vucich scored off of an assist from Tyler Izykowski. Choido completed his hat-trick and then added another goal to finish with four goals. Izykowski scored his first goal as a Dutchmen in the 79th minute. To rap up the game, Manna completed his hat-trick with a goal in the 81st minute receiving the ball from Choido. Choido finished with five total points, four goals and one assist.
