Wolverine is arguably one of the most famous X-Men. No X-Men comic, TV show, or movie is considered complete without him. And with his own movie set to come out next year, I thought it would be fun to show the X-Man's history in video games:

Wolverine (Nintendo): Wolverine's first- and worst- appearance. I'm not sure you can even use his claws in the game. (1/5 stars)

X-Men (arcade game): Wolverine can use his claws in this game, and he kicks butt- especially with his "Adamantium Slash" move. But you can't use his amazing healing factor. (4/5 stars)

Spider-Man and the X-Men: Arcade's Revenge (SNES): Wolverine's healing factor makes its first appearance in game. You can gain life by killing some enemies without using your claws. (3/5 stars)

Wolverine: Adamantium Rage (SNES): Wolverine sets out to uncover his past. A variety of martial arts moves are added into Wolverine's arsenal. Two big disappointments are that Sabretooth isn't in the game and that Wolverine's claws make a weird noise when they're cutting through people. (3/5 stars)

Wolverine: Wolverine's Revenge (PS2, Xbox, PC): Probably the best portrayal of Wolverine so far. You can choose to fight with stealth or brute force. In addition to using a healing factor, Wolverine's enhanced senses come into play, and you can go into a feral rage which makes you unstoppable. Being able to pull off a variety of stealth attacks and combos also makes for a fun time. The annoying thing is that there is a special trick to defeating each of the bosses, which usually makes the boss unnecessarily hard. C'mon, am I playing Reed Richards or Wolverine? (4/5 stars)

X3: The Last Stand (any video game console): Wolverine's feral rage and his healing factor are still in the game, but not much else. You're never presented with an opportunity to try stealth attacks, which is annoying when there are guys shooting rockets at you and you have to charge them. (2/5 stars)
