There is no doubt that globalization is the word and world of the 21st Century. It is one of the most popular and rapidly developing trends of today's world. Traveling, trading, politics, - almost every interaction between human beings nowadays seems to be moved, tied to and consumed by globalization and its unstoppable forces. Successful globalization involves not only economic, political and technological integration, but cultural, ecological and interpersonal development as well. The United States is a county built on generations of millions of immigrants coming from various parts of the world. Its initial ideology promoted those values of tolerance, acceptance and intercultural understanding between various nations. Only through these concepts and most importantly their application, will it be possible to reach the goals of globalization, in its broadest and most positive meaning.
College years are considered to be the basis, or rather the foundation for the successful development of a teen into an independent, intelligent and promising human being. The forces of nurture can never be denied to play an important role in the formation of human personality. College community, that one lives in for 4 years, is something that without doubt plays a huge role in attitude formation while underlining the accepted by certain social group strategies of communication.
Union College - it started making its long history in 1795. From 1813 the Nott Memorial has been in the center of Union College campus. It brings not only architectural significance by being the only single 16-sided building in the Northern Hemisphere, but becomes a symbol of Union College itself. By "Incorporating many diverse elements from both religion and rationalism, the Nott Memorial is a magnificently-unified whole and a fitting symbol for a college called Union.'"(http://www.union.edu/Campus/Nott_Memorial/potter.php). Therefore, Union College's students and staff should reflect the ideology and values which the Nott Memorial symbolizes. Which (according to the symbolic meaning) is diversity and unity across culture, that brings together common understanding between people of various places, beliefs, religions under one sky.
