Picky eater or lack of food options?

I suppose some people might consider me to be a picky eater. I refrain from all red meat, most fish, most dairy products and a long list of other random foods. At home, I have an amazing cook for a mother, who always takes my weird habits into consideration and thinks up new and interesting dishes that I always love. Lately, I have had a difficult time trying to add the same variety to my limited diet at school.
Every time I go into Dutch, I have a small panic attack about what to order. Should I eat another salad? Should I try the hummus wrap (even though most of Union's hummus is extremely under par)? Maybe I should spice things up and get the Pesto Turkey Wrap? I always think I should try something new. After I get over my anxiety, I realize that I only eat three meals at Dutch: the Chicken Caesar Wrap, the Tripoli Cheese Pizza (after I take off most of the cheese), and salads from the salad bar. I really should save myself the trouble and stop pretending that I am ever going to try something else. Although I do enjoy these meals, I have grown extremely bored with them. However, nothing else on the menu stands out to me.
Although Upper has plenty of options, even vegan ones, I hardly eat any of the entrees. Nothing really looks appetizing to me. The pasta is always overcooked, the yogurt is too sugary, it usually smells like some gross meat, the soups look weird and even the steamed vegetables are not quite right. Instead, I usually opt for a salad and some fruit, a bagel, or a veggie burger from the grill and my boring diet continues.
I am really excited about the new Marketplace, however. I bought an amazing eggplant and feta cheese sandwich last week from there. Unfortunately, if I were to eat here everyday, I doubt if my declining balance would make it to midterms.
Despite my selective eating habits, I feel like I deserve more than five different meal options to rotate around. The funny thing is Union has been trying so hard to offer more meal options for students. For example, Dutchmen Dollars, which seems like a great idea, but I would rather have better food to eat on campus where my declining balance is accepted.
My younger brother, a freshman at UVM, frequently reminds me of his school's sushi bar. I instantly become jealous. This would be the answer to my food prayers. A girl can dream, right?
In the future, I would love to see a greater variety on campus. In the meantime, I suppose I will have to get over some of my habits to add more variation to my diet to avoid vitamin deficiencies.
