After suffering a 34-0 loss to Muhlenberg College this past weekend, the team trains for their first Liberty League game this coming Saturday against the University of Rochester, hoping to break the two-game losing streak.

The Union football team traveled to Allentown, PA on Saturday, September 15 for a match against Muhlenberg, at the Mules' Scotty Wood Stadium. Play began when freshman Blaise Ancona kicked-off to the Mules receiving line, and began the Muhlenberg offense, which lasted only four downs. When the Dutchmen received a punt from the Mules, their offensive drive began, but only lasted three plays before the Mules again took possession. By the end of the first quarter, the Dutchmen were unable to turn their three possessions into a touchdown, and trailed the Mules 7-0.

Muhlenberg's offense finished the first quarter and started the second quarter with six plays and 22 yards. They were unsuccessful in their scoring run however, and Union regained possession for the next two minutes. After two more possessions for the Mules, they managed a field goal to bring the game's score to 10-0 at halftime. Prior to the intermission, Union caught an interception to regain possession, but was fruitless in its attempt for a touchdown.

Receiving the ball from the third-quarter kick-off, the Dutchmen went two plays for seven yards before fumbling and beginning a Muhlenberg drive. When a Muhlenberg fumble gave Union possession, they executed three plays for an accumulation of nine yards before punting. The Mules then drove the ball for eleven plays and 75 yards to score their second touchdown of the game, placing them ahead of the Dutchman, 17-0.

Union's attempt at recovery only produced eight yards, not enough to get them on the scoreboard. After receiving a Union punt, Muhlenberg had yet another successful run, leading to their first fourth-quarter touchdown with 14:55 remaining in the game. Muhlenberg's final touchdown came from an interception at Union's 23-yard line, which brought the score to 31-0. The Mules picked up three more points from a field goal with 1:31 remaining in the game. Muhlenberg has won the past three meetings between the two teams.
