Brandon Snooks and Andrea Loguidice of the “Wandering Dago” food truck have moved in with an environmentally-friendly, healthy-choice menu, and with their food truck they affectionately call “Annie.”
The truck itself is a gutted and renovated 1987 Matco tool truck, worked on by friends and family of the couple on Long Island. The pair has since moved to the Schenectady area to supply Union College students with healthy, homemade alternatives to the late night standbys.
The couple offer specialties such as Italian pulled pork, Pabst Blue Ribbon beer beef brisket and homemade pesto. They mentioned that, so far, the Union community is respoding positively to it. For example, one night at 3 am, the brothers of Theta Delta Chi, according to the Wandering Dago Facebook page, ate 20 pounds of pulled pork.
It’s been about a year since the couple moved from Denver to the East Coast to follow their culinary dreams of starting up a food truck.
Logiudice is a vegetarian herself which prompted her to create vegetarian-friendly salads with ingredients like cranberries and faux chicken.
Meanwhile, Snooks is a Montana carnivore, and therefore enjoys making pulled pork that takes 13 hours to cook.
Everything they make is 100 percent truck-made and preservative-free in order to give people a healthy and well-priced ($0-$10) go-to option.
The truck is also promoting a green and healthy message by selling their pesto for $9 a jar and offering refills for $7.
With goals of attracting a Union common crowd, the Wandering Dago is often parked on Union Street or Seward Place at hat time during the week.
