In Memoriam: Lee Davenport 1915-2011

Lee Davenport ’37, who helped develop a device that enabled U.S. troops to win battles in World War II, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at the age of 95.

Davenport, who was a Schenectady native, maintained a strong relationship with his alma mater and President Stephen Ainlay. His 24-year career with the GTE Corp. was inspired by his academic experience at the college. He was dedicated to helping students pursue their academic endeavors.

In addition to his years at GTE Corp., Davenport taught and was involved with a nuclear lab at MIT and Harvard.
