Four members of the Union College chapter of Engineers Without Borders (see group photo above), Rebecca Wentworth ‘11, Phil Lambert ‘11, Julie Fehlmann ‘12, Darren Del Dotto ‘12, have been awarded one of this year’s Kathryn W. Davis Projects for Peace. The four students’ project is entitled “Bringing Water to Boru, Ethiopia.” They will use the $10,000 grant to construct a well that will provide potable water for the 5,000 inhabitants of Boru.
The Kathryn W. Davis Projects for Peace award undergraduate students with funding for creating grassroots projects and promoting peace. All projects will be implemented during the summer of 2011 and this year’s group is the third from Union to receive this fellowship.

Elizabeth Ackley ’11 (pictured above) was awarded a Fulbright fellowship to serve as an English teaching assistant in the Dominican Republic for the 2011-2012 academic year. She also plans to create an art program for youth.
The Fulbright Program is run by the U.S. Department of State and is the largest international exchange fellowship program in the country.
