Cooking with U: Homeade Hasbrowns



Instead of going out for breakfast this weekend, invite your friends and family over and prepare an all-star breakfast of your own. These hash browns are the perfect addition to your brunch. While you are keeping a watchful eye over the pancakes, waffles, or all of the types of eggs you can make, the hash browns will golden up all by themselves for 20 or so minutes. The prep is simply and not messy which will save you from cleaning some dishes . Show your family and friends your awesome culinary skills with this great but simply recipe!


  • 3 medium potatoes (1 pound)
  • ¼ cup finely chopped onion or green onion
  • 3 tablespoons margarine or butter
  • Salt and pepper


Peel the potatoes and shred to make 3 cups of potatoes. Rinse the shreds and pat dry with paper towels. Combine the potatoes with the chopped onions, ¼ teaspoon salt (or to taste), and 1/8 teaspoon pepper (or to taste). Melt butter in a medium large skillet over medium low heat. Pat the pancakes into a thin pancake form and place in the skillet. Cook the hash brown on one side for approximately 10 minutes or until the bottom is golden brown and crisp.
