Student inForum’d: Weekly Student Forum update

  • Continuing a tradition, the Student Forum has voted unanimously to allocate $2,400 for tickets to the Mayor’s Cup for interested students. The Student Forum will be purchasing 150 tickets for the game, and will be co-sponsoring a trip to the event with UProgram. The event is this weekend, and students can reserve tickets until Friday at the Student Activities office on the fourth floor of Reamer Campus Center for a $5 deposit.
  • Another tradition that the Student Forum voted to continue is co-sponsoring the Founder’s Breakfast for Dinner with the Garnet Society. In a unanimous vote, the Student Forum voted to split the cost of the dinner with the Garnet Society, which is based on the amount of food consumed during the event.
  • Following up on discussions to extend study hours in the library or classrooms, a Student Forum representative has been in touch with Dean of Studies Mark Wunderlich. Although 24/7 library hours outside of finals week seem unlikely, it may be possible to extend the hours during which classrooms are open to students.
  • Two clubs requested additional money this week: the Concordiensis requested an extra $1,755.75 for two new cameras to replace one that was stolen and another that has become outdated. The Student Forum voted to approve this. The Women’s Club Hockey team requested $1,000 to cover raised fees to hire refs and unexpected transportation costs. The Student Forum voted to approve this, as well.
  • The Sustainability Committee has voted on and selected the winner of the Green Fee: Alex Dolcimasolo ’17. Alex has been allocated $25,000 to spend before June 1, and he plans to spend it by installing new water bottle fillers and water filters in locations across campus in order to decrease the prevalence of plastic water bottles on campus.
