Student inForum’d: Weekly Student Forum update

  • THIS WEEK: New Director of Dining Services; NY6 student governance meeting; new color printer for clubs in S.A. office.
  • Student Forum met with the new Director of Dining Services Jeff Kurto. Kurto will be working with the current Director of Dining Services David Gaul to transition into the job. The transition is expected to be complete by December, and Kurto will then be fully in charge of Dining Services on campus. Kurto, as a professed foodie, wants to work with students to find problems and complaints about the quality and variety of food, and to address these issues with students and Dining Services staff.
  • This week, several schools from the New York 6 (NY6) consortium sent representatives from their student governments to Union to talk about different aspects of student governance. Elected student representatives from St. Lawrence and Hamilton met with Union’s Student Forum members to discuss pressing issues at each school.
  • The Condom Sense Relay Race, organized by the Committee on Consent Education and Awareness, will be held this Friday, Nov. 13. Organized under the Title IX coordinator and in conjunction with the It’s On Us campaign, it aims to educate students about consent and safe sex.
  • The five-poster limit and the new gift-card policy have officially gone into effect. Also, Student Activities has obtained and set up a color printer in the Student Activities office, which clubs and organizations can use to print out posters, among other things.
  • Once again, we encourage students to stay informed of our progress and become more engaged in student governance and campus life. Student Forum meetings are held Wednesdays at (NEW TIME) 5:45 p.m. in Reamer 410. Meetings are open to the student body to listen in on.
